U.S. Senator Bill Nelson meets with Regional Leaders

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson met with the South Florida Regional Council and Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority during his August 31st visit to South Florida.  He briefed the Council and DDA Board Members on issues of importance to the state and region, and sought their input on local and regional priorities. These issues include Everglades / Florida Bay Restoration, proposed changes to Florida’s water quality standards by the State’s Environmental Regulation Commission, the National Flood Insurance Program, FPL Turkey Point, transit projects, and political gridlock.   Pictured from left to right:  Councilmember Mario Bailey, Councilmember Greg Ross, Councilmember Margaret Bates, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, Councilmember Frank Caplan, Councilmember Quentin “Beam” Furr, and Isabel Cosio Carballo, SFRC executive director.
