May 24-30 is Hurricane Preparedness Week – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) suggests you begin preparations with a family communications plan, available from their website (http://m.fema.gov/). The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) offers a wealth of information to the public including easy ways to find your nearest shelter and which evacuation zone your home is located in. Visit them at http://www.floridadisaster.org/DEMpublic.asp. The South Florida Regional Council recently completed the Directional Atlas for South Florida, part of the Statewide Regional Evacuation Study Program (SRESP).
