Operation HeatShield2, a major regional fullscale exercise, took place this Saturday, April 28, 2018 across ten venues in Palm Beach County. Council staff worked with personnel from multiple Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and regional agencies to plan the event. The training included active shooter scenarios, as well as mass casualty, crowd control and forensics. Well in excess of 200 on-duty deputies and EMS personnel were trained in “warm-zone” extractions, a technique of rapidly moving wounded away from recently cleared areas for quick treatment and transport. Three county and six municipal law enforcement agencies were joined by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and many local hospitals for the day-long event.
